Hickenlooper is Right: Socialism is NOT the Answer

This past weekend was a busy one for many Americans, as many of us enjoyed the great outdoors as the weather warmed around the country, the liberal political world also showed signs of heating up. A particularly “heated moment” took place just a few days ago at California’s Democratic Convention during 2020 presidential hopeful Hickenlooper brief but controversial remarks before that progressive political body.

The fawning adulation and applause the pragmatic former Governor of Colorado received at that Democratic Convention quickly turned into anger, vitriol and a cascade of boos as Hickenlooper rejected the notion that socialism is the answer to America’s political and economic problems. “If we want to beat Donald Trump and achieve big progressive goals, socialism is not the answer," Hickenlooper boldly proclaimed to a crowd of more than 4,500 progressive delegates this past Saturday.

Yet, almost immediately the ultra liberal crowd was triggered into convulsions and erupted into a chorus of boos as many die-hard liberals and communists began to wave Bernie Sanders signs throughout the auditorium.

As a detached observer of these happenings, I was personally proud of the liberals in the audience for not immediately weeping hysterically and fleeing to their intersectional safe spaces and cry rooms during this traumatizing series of events.

Undeterred, Hickenlooper went off script and said, “You know, if we're not careful, we're going to end up helping to re-elect the worst president in history."

The far-left crowd shrieked in anger upon hearing this and went further into a fit of unhinged rage at Hickenlooper’s additional comments.

"We shouldn't try to achieve universal coverage by removing private insurance from over 150 million Americans," he said to growing boos. "We should not try to tackle climate change by guaranteeing every American a government job, " Hickenlooper said in desperation, begging the liberal crowd not to reject his pleas.

"Hold on, hold on," "We shouldn't try to achieve universal coverage by removing private insurance from over 150 million Americans," he said to the angry crowd. "We should not try to tackle climate change by guaranteeing every American a government job."

"Hold on, hold on," Hickenlooper begged the liberal mob, attempting to finish his speech. "I want to give Americans a reason to look forward tomorrow. As president, I will make healthcare a right, not a privilege with a real public option."

But by that time, the Pro-Bernie Sanders San Francisco crowd had tuned Hickenlooper out and applauded when the next speaker pandered to the pro-socialist audience, saying he was not “ashamed” of being a progressive.

The whole Hickenlooper ordeal was a bit unsettling and surreal to this unbiased observer since the fact remains that “Democratic Socialist” U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders never had a job in the real world before being elected as Mayor of the liberal city of Burlington, Vermont, and has no real experience whatsoever in stimulating the economy and providing viable jobs to working Americans.

To this undetached observer at least, Hickenlooper appeared to be spot on about the dubious nature of socialism, which has tended to impede job growth and subjugate and repress any misfortunate soul that has lived under this failed tyrannical and statist economic system.

Hickenlooper is right. Socialism is not the answer to America’s economic problems. Economic liberty and free-market Capitalism is.
