Why the Green New Deal is Ridiculous

By Lee Enochs

In the most expansive and comprehensive plan for progressive control of the American government in history, freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a “Democratic Socialist,” rolled out her highly anticipated and very controversial “Green New Deal” yesterday.

The non-binding and flagrantly audacious resolution, promises to restructure the entire American economy for the stated purpose of eliminating the U.S. carbon footprint by 2030.

“Our energy future will not be found in the dark of a mine but in the light of the sun," said Sen. Ed Markey, D-MA as he announced the legislation with Ocasio-Cortez on Capitol Hill Thursday.

The comprehensive legislation promised to completely overhaul America’s economy and calls for such ludicrous things as the abolition of air travel, farting cows and all non-retrofitted buildings in the United States in order to move the U.S. rapidly towards net-zero carbon emissions and guarantees social justice for all and economic security for everyone who wants to live in America, even if they are “unwilling” to work.

The “Green New Deal” is the most ambitious attempt at a complete socialist takeover of America in history and is already being greatly resisted by most Republicans and Libertarians across the country.

The tragic outcome of this “Green New Deal” nonsense is that it is being sponsored currently by 8 sitting Democrats in the United States Senate and 60 members of the House of Representatives.

Such entirely nonsensical legislation is stealing valuable time, attention and resources from members of Congress who want to enact real and viable legislation for the American people.
